Initially established as Conversations: Occasional Writing from the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, the journal has fast outgrown its humble beginnings. While it continues to be published bi-annually by the Centre for the Contemporary Pacific (Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, The Australian National University) in association with Pandanus Books, the new look Conversations is a journal of general cultural and literary interest featuring contributions from the wider Canberran community.
Since Conversations opened its pages to contributions from the community, the response has been excellent, leading to a wide variety of new submissions that have extended and strengthened the journal immeasurably and extended its scope from its initial focus on the Asia–Pacific region to include Australia as well. Conversations aspires to become nothing less than the premier literary journal produced in the Canberra region.
Browse through poetry, fragments of autobiography, fiction, photo essays, occasional writing contributed by artists and writers from the greater Canberra region.
